LANA HEKKALA BENEFIT

UPDATE: Lana event raises $8,000!!!!!

On Oct. 24, we held "LANAPALOOZA," a benefit for Lana Hekkala, at the Liquid Lounge in Reno. Lana, the former owner of Up Shirt Creek in Tahoe City, suffered a stroke in July and is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor. We would like to thank the individuals who attended the benefit and the local businesses who donated raffle and auction prizes. The night was a wonderful success and thanks to their generosity we were able to raise over $8,000 for Lana's medical bills and physical therapy. This is a truly great and caring community. Lenore, Evon and Marty (Lana's Children) South Lake Tahoe

Lana, our seemingly ubiquitous friend, has always followed ALL The Musical Notes for years. She owned Up Shirt Creek, a t-shirt shop, in Tahoe City for 22 years. She's known Cami Thompson ever since Cami sang at The Loft in Tahoe City 20 years ago. Lana has met a lot of musicians through Cami since then. Lana also has been a volunteer at the Pioneer Theatre for some time. If she is not working there she is often seen walking all over downtown to another gig!

This benefit was made possible by generous donations from:

The Liquid Lounge, Tahoe Dave's Skis and Snowboards, The Cooper House Bed and Breakfast, Sierra Mirage Topiary, 4th Street Bistro, Eat at Joe's Catering, Linda Azar, Bonnie Golde, and the wonderful performers who have donated their time and talents: Bill Slais, Mick Valentino, Joe McKenna, Cami Thompson, Tony Savage, Kevin Tokarz, John Shipley, CeCe Gable, Jackie Landrum, Colleen Medina, Corky Bennett, Richard Ray, Jakki Ford, and Lana's love, pianist Peter Supersano. And her multitudes of music loving friends!
